Why people live in past?

I wonder why people live in the past so much anyways.
What about now? What about the future?

I read a quote in facebook (Now a days facebook is my primary source of information) –
“When one door closes another door opens; but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us”

We all know this fact, less or more we all also believe in this, but then also we stuck to our past.

There is nothing but ash left in past. (Don’t believe me? Try lit a cigarette)

I know it’s hard to forget your past, after all it was part of your life, but we have to, as life goes on.

The ex- girlfriend of one of my batch mate deleted her facebook account because he not let her go. He keeps on posting about his feelings in her heart (I mean to say in her facebook wall). He didn’t allow her to start her life again.

Yaar is that fair? I know feelings are stupid. It never follows logic. Life is much ahead of 0’s and 1’s.  ( he he, I am computer science eng :p)

One of my close friends still obsesses over why the girl broke up with him in engineering college, 4 years ago.
Dost, its 4 year now. Isn’t it too much?

He still thinks about her, and talks about her. Doing this not only he is ruining his present but also the life of that girl.

I am also not that practical, but 4 years?
This is one of the reasons that why I like the tag line of famous brand   FAST TRACK – “move on”
(The another reason is it belongs to TATA group- and being a part of TATA group I have to show loyalty towards it)

The question is why people dwell on the past. Is this because they are not happy with the present? Or there are some another reason? Is it out of conceit? Are they just reliving their glory days?

May be this is because they feel that past is more comfortable. They know it.
They spent their day thinking about the past. They remember the things that they felt secure in.
Most people don't like change.

Some people just live in the past because they don't want to accept the challenge that they are going to have in the present or in the future. They're just afraid to fail and very afraid of the changes that awaits them. They're simply weak and cannot imagine the beauty of life without complexities.

I read a book “The Present” written by Spencer Johnson which explained the importance of present very well.  It says that the present is a gift that makes you happy and successful in work and life.

You can't live in the past but memories are great to have.
I suggest better to try to make each day an adventure and try new things. Try doing this for a while and it can become a habit and then new things become not so scary.

Leave your past in the past; don’t bring it in your present. Stay happy or at least try to be happy. It’s totally up to you. Its you only who can bring happiness in your life.

Good luck with this and don't give up.
