Tomorrow
is republic day. On 15th Aug 11 we celebrated 64th Independence
Day.
But
are we really independent? Are we free
to celebrate republic day?
Many
of us would say yes, but then again we don’t know any better. We have been told
all our life that we are free. But are we really?
Even
Google search gives biased result. It says that yes India is free country.
I have not seen pre independence era but I wonder was it worse
than what we have today?
Even Delhi high court of India says that they would ban internet
like china.
It simply means that we would no more be living in a democratic
county like we have conceived it back in 1950 when India became a republic
country from a dominion one.
We still need freedom from -

Today I was taking a walk after dinner. A child of nearly 7 year old pulls my shirt.
He was carrying our national flag in his hand.
He was saying something, most
probably in Tamil. I don’t know Tamil, was not able to understand his words.
But I understand everything; it’s the hunger in his eyes which
explain me the situation. He was selling the flag. I handed him a 10 Rs note
without buying the flag and run away.
Don’t know whether I have done right or wrong. As some of you
might thinks that giving money in this way would not going to solve the problem.
My mobile phone beeped when I received a message, it was related
with freedom of India ended with – Happy Republic day.
The situation forces me to think; is this free country? Each year
we celebrate Independence day, republic day. But there are thousands of child
like this, who don’t have proper food to eat. Most of them are working from
childhood to serve their stomach, others adopted the easy way – begging.
I was continued walking with my thoughts, but again some one
pulled my shirt. It was the same child – this time with both of his palm open;
one has the same 10 Rs note, the other has the national flag.
Again his eyes told me that he is not going to accept the money
until I buy a flag. So either I have to buy that flag or I can take my money
back.
I smiled and taken the flag.
My phone beeped again.
It was msg from one of my friend – I love my India.
I smiled. Yes I love my India. I learned a lesson today, so what
if we are not free from problems. We will resolve all those one day.
It takes time to bring changes and we, people of India will bring
that.
If we see from our heart we would find that we are really
improving. We are changing.
Let’s keep this positive attitude like I had seen in the eye of
that child.
good to read such an article on republic day's eve.
ReplyDeletewell thought of and written....however I beg to differ in opinion that it is "The freedom" that allows everyone to earn a living according to his capabilities and Choice (ofcourse) unlike in pre-freedom era. Not to be ignorant towards poor but its one's choice how he wants to live, and how he wants to earn. The freedom gives you options to choose however it is always upto an individual to make the right choice.
Bade buzurgo ne sahi kaha hai.... Jaisi karni, waisi Bharni!!!
nice thought about our free & democratic country....
